Is your child too sick
for
school?
What if it is
6:30 a.m. and your child announces “I feel sick”? How
do you decide to keep your child home
from school? Following are some tips from
your Sturgeon R-V nurses.
Keep your child
home if they have:
·
A
temperature over 100.0 F
·
Persistent
vomiting and/or diarrhea
·
A
severe cold with fever over 99.0 F and sneezing
·
A
cough that keeps them up at night, worsens with activity or is combined
with
other symptoms
·
A persistent
red throat, especially if you see tonsils are enlarged or white spots
·
A
severe and/or persistent earache
·
Redness
in the whites of their eyes, yellow eye discharge and/or matted
lashes
(signs
of Pink Eye).
·
Pink Eye is highly contagious
and needs to be diagnosed by a doctor.
·
An all
-over body rash that is blistery, oozing or painful.
This could be a sign
of a contagious
infection.
If your child
is sent home from school with a temperature or vomiting/diarrhea, your
child
should not return to school until 24 hours after the symptoms have
passed.
